The windy breeze will approach its visitors through the alpine forest trails, greeting them with open arms, whereas every route will entice you to mark your presence in the unknown and unexplored. The road to Yusmarg goes through the famous Sufi shrine of Sheikh Noor-ud-Din Wali, known as Charar-e-Sharief. One of the holiest and the oldest shrine, the Dargah of the renowned Sufi poet, lies in the Budgam district of Jammu & Kashmir, the same as Yusmarg. The months between March and October are considered the best time to visit this shrine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Tatakoti glacier – the source of the River Doodhganga – is home to the highest peak in the Pir Panjal range. The name Doodhganga translates to Flowing Milk. The famous stream is located 2 km from Yusmarg, and one can easily trek their way to this site which is ideal for picnicking. Besides, it is a famous spot for angling, for the River houses several fish species, including Rainbow Trout.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You will be surprised to know that at Yusmarg, one of Bollywood’s blockbuster movies was filmed. The movie Bobby (1973), starring Rishi Kapoor and Dimple Kapadia, is the highlight of the Meadow. The Bobby Hut is the first thing you will notice upon arrival here. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sang-e-Safed, meaning White Rocks, is the beginning point to trek the tallest peak, Tattakoti, from where the River Doodhganga originates and bifurcates this beautiful Valley. The Valley is located 10 km from Yusmarg. Naturally, the scenery here provides serenity at its best.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tucked away in the forestry area, 4 km downhill from Yusmarg, is Nilnag lake. The path to this high-altitude lake, surrounded by dense forest and pine trees, goes through rough terrain. However, you can sit by the lake once you reach there and enjoy the scenic view. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

How to Reach – Yusmarg, Kashmir?<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

The best way to reach Yusmarg is to take a private cab or taxi from Srinagar. Srinagar International Airport is the only destination to get to via air in Kashmir. After arriving in Srinagar, you can travel to the innermost parts of Kashmir. It will take about 2 hours to reach Yusmarg. No direct bus connects from Srinagar to Yusmarg.
